The Purpose Church
Last updated August 3, 2026
People tell a church things they don't tell anyone else. This page is our plain-English promise about what happens to that information.
This policy covers thepurposechurchseattle.com and The Purpose Church iPhone app. Where the two differ, we say so. "We," "us," and "the church" mean The Purpose Church, 22600 116th Ave SE, Kent, WA 98031.
We store your name and email address. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and is stored only as a cryptographic hash — we never see it, and neither does anyone at the church.
An account is optional. You can read, watch, play Bible Trivia, give, and send a prayer request without ever making one.
Notes you write in the app are stored on our server and are readable only by you. This is enforced by database-level access rules, not by policy or good intentions — there is no administrator override, and no screen anywhere in the app that shows another person's notes.
When you send a prayer request we receive what you wrote, plus whatever contact details you chose to include, whether you marked it urgent, and — if you have an account — your name. Requests go to our pastoral care team so they can pray and, when you've asked for it, follow up.
Requests are never published, never posted to social media, and never shared outside the care team without your permission. We know these often describe illness, family trouble, addiction, or grief, and we treat them accordingly.
You may send a request without an account. If you do, we have no way to reply inside the app, so the only way we can reach you is the phone number or email you type in — and if you leave that blank, we simply pray.
The first name you enter to personalize the greeting, and your Bible Trivia streak and scores, are stored on your device only. They are not sent to us. Deleting the app deletes them.
The app does not request or use your location, camera, microphone, photos, contacts, health data, or calendar. It contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking software. We do not use the Advertising Identifier and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Unlike the app, this website uses Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to understand which pages people find useful, and Google Ads conversion tracking to measure whether our advertising reaches anyone. These set cookies and collect standard web analytics data such as pages viewed, approximate location from your IP address, and the browser you're using.
You can opt out with Google's browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser. Forms on this site — prayer requests, Bible Trivia sign-up, contact — collect only what you type into them.
We use a small number of outside services to run the app and the site. None of them are permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
We will also disclose information if the law requires it, or if we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to prevent imminent harm to someone.
Open the app, go to More → Delete my account, and confirm with your password. This permanently erases your account, your email address, every note you've written, and every prayer request you've sent, along with the replies on them. It happens immediately and we cannot undo it.
One exception, so nothing here is a surprise: if you served on the care team and wrote replies to other people's prayer requests, those replies stay with the people they were written to — but your name comes off them. We won't take someone's encouragement away from them.
If you'd rather we handled it, call the church office at (253) 881-7232 or email care@thepurposechurchseattle.com and we'll take care of it.
Your account and its contents stay until you delete them. Prayer requests are kept so the care team can follow up and pray over time; ask us and we'll remove yours. Website analytics data is retained on Google's standard schedule.
Wherever you live, you can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Washington residents, residents of other states with privacy laws, and anyone covered by the GDPR have these rights by statute; we extend them to everyone. Email care@thepurposechurchseattle.com and we'll respond within 30 days. We will never charge you for asking, and we will never treat you differently for having asked.
The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Our children's ministry keeps its own paper records under our standard child-safety procedures; those are separate from this app and this website. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Access rules are enforced by the database itself rather than by the app, so a modified copy of the app still cannot reach another person's data. No system is perfect, and we won't pretend otherwise — but we've built this so that a mistake in the app can't expose someone's notes.
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll say so in the app.
Questions about any of this are welcome, and a phone call is fine.
